In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes,
For they in thee a thousand errors note;
But ‘tis my heart that loves what they despise,
Who in despite of view is pleased to dote;
Nor are mine ears with thy tongue’s tune delighted,
Nor tender feeling, to base touches prone,
Nor taste, nor smell, desire to be invited
To any sensual feast with thee alone:
But my five wits nor my five senses can
Dissuade one foolish heart from serving thee,
Who leaves unsway’d the likeness of a man,
Thy proud hearts slave and vassal wretch to be:

Anh biết anh không yêu em bằng mắt,
Vì mắt anh nhìn thấy hết lỗi lầm,
Chỉ tim anh không chịu nhìn sự thật,
Tôn thờ em, mắt cản, cứ mù câm.
Đôi tai anh cũng không nghe em nói,
Và tay em ve vuốt gợi khêu tình,
Và hương thơm, và tiếng cười sôi nổi
Không bao giờ lôi cuốn được lòng anh
Nhưng rồi năm giác quan và lý trí
Không làm sao thuyết phục một trái tim
Đang mù quáng, đang mất dần suy nghĩ,
Rằng yêu em là cái chết đi tìm.
Trong bất hạnh, anh thấy mình hạnh phúc,
Em- với anh, là thiên đường, địa ngục.
